OHSLA held its first virtual meeting on Friday, April 17, 2020. Elizabeth Bolander, Director of Audience Insights and Services at The Cleveland Museum of Art presented the program entitled Beyond the Survey-Qualitative Research Practices and Techniques. Sam Watson, Outreach Specialist at the NNLM GMR shared an update on the activities of the NNLM GMR and answered questions about the new version of PubMed. The MLA CE credits were generously underwritten by the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, Greater Midwest Region (NNLM GMR). The business meeting will be scheduled separately and also held online.

Program

Beyond the Survey-Qualitative Research Practices and Techniques

Elizabeth Bolander, Director of Audience Insights and Services at The Cleveland Museum of Art. Elizabeth will be leading a 3.0 Medical Library Association (MLA) continuing education class on qualitative research practices and techniques. This entry-level, hands on workshop will cover ways of gathering, managing, and analyzing qualitative data. Participants will learn best practices for conducting one-on-one interviews with patrons and walk away ready to tackle their own exploratory qualitative research projects.

NNLM GMR Update and the New PubMed

Sam Watson from the NNLM GMR, will be sharing an update on the activities of the NNLM GMR and answer questions about the new version of PubMed. PubMed is a free database of more than 30 million citations and abstracts of peer-reviewed journals in the biomedical and life sciences. Sam has graciously offered to take our PubMed questions beforehand so that he can customize his presentation. Remember to have your PubMed questions ready to share when you register.

This is a great opportunity to learn about qualitative research, get updated on the latest news in the medical library world, and meet health sciences librarians from all over Ohio!
